Tyson Hugh Hooper

Tyson Hugh Hooper
Our son, Tyson Hugh Hooper, was born with coarctation of the aorta, hypoplastic arch, and a transitional avsd. His first open heart surgery reconstructed his aorta and was on day 9 of life. His second open heart repair was not anticipated to be needed until two or three years of age. Ty had other plans. We spent the vast majority of his first 3 months of life at Vanderbilt as he went into heart failure and was diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension. As a result, the medical team concluded that he needed the repair much sooner than usually recommended, and at just shy of 3 months old Ty underwent his second life saving open heart surgery. God has already worked so many miracles in Ty's life and the life of our family and we know he is using our story. Because of this, we are grateful for Ty's special heart and feel beyond blessed that God chose us to travel this road. We ask for prayers as Ty continues to heal. We are praying for a full recovery and life without restrictions for Ty. We are praying for God to use our family and Ty for His glory.

Thank you to each and every person who supports us through prayer, giving, or just by loving on our family! We are humbled and blessed by all of the ways the Lord is providing for us and know that he is using Ty and his story to do great things!

Creative Discovery Museum - Chattanooga

On day two of our Chattanooga House-Sitting Adventure Mini Vacation (as I like to call it), we had a full agenda! Bentlee and Lily had a "slumber party" at Grandmommy's house on Monday night! They had BIG plans for "camping out" in the living room, staying up 'til midnight, and having a big pillow fight! Seriously, they had it all planned out! It didn't go exactly as planned, 'cause they were pooped LONG before midnight rolled around, but they still had SO MUCH FUN and not a cross word between them! I fully expected a little girl drama after so much time together and when they got tired, but it didn't happen! These two are BFFs! :-)

Tuesday, we had major plans! Lunch at Couch's again (of course), then a trip to the Creative Discovery Museum, then across the river to the Coolidge Park Fountains, and then to dinner and Lookouts game!!!! Obviously this is too much for one post, so this will cover the Discovery Museum.

Bentlee in a bubble!

Lily putting herself in a bubble!

If you have never been to the Creative Discovery Museum in Chattanooga you must add it to your list of things to see and do. It is So.Much.Fun! You could literally spend an entire day there and not get bored! We had to make the girls leave in time to go play in the fountains! They would have stayed all day and spent the night if we had let them! :-)

By far, their favorite thing was the Doctor's corner. They have an entire miniature doctor's examination room set up! Scales, equipment, lab coats, growth charts, bandages, complete with a clip board "chart" and a sign in desk! We played in this room the longest and ALL took turns being the patient! Above you see the girls at the "Check In" desk... "sign here ma'am."

In this picture Chris is obviously the patient. Bentlee is giving him a cast and Lily a shot I think... would you trust these two as doctors? They seem to want there to be a lot wrong with their patients! Maybe it's just me. :-)

Daddy's heart is beating indeed!

(And I must mention here what a kind, big, generous, wonderful heart he has!)

Doctor Hooper is checking her patient's chart!

And upon looking she announced, "Your Uvula isn't working Meagan!"

Crackin' Me Up!!!!!

And off they go.... BFF's for sure!

They had a whole section devoted to music. The girls went to the 2:00 Music and Motion where they got on stage and did a dance and sang! Several people came in to watch as they put on their show with the nice lady that taught them the routine! They did a great job!!

At the Museum you can go up on the roof! They have a huge playground up there with all kinds of things to explore! Part of it is covered with tables, chairs, and giant tic-tac-toe and checker boards and the other part is uncovered with all kinds of fun things to discover and play with and learn! Here is Lily havin fun on the roof with Bubbles!

Here the girls are discovery the different sights!

And, of course, the whole reason we went! This month's "theme" is Get Curious with Curious George! Bentlee has seen the commercials and signs and has been asking to go and Lily LOVES Curious George so that is why we decided to take them! They had tons of fun Curious George stuff that we explored and played with!

The Discovery Museum was great! I will be going back for sure and I certainly encourage you to go if you are within driving distance. Chattanooga is a WONDERFUL city to visit with a family and this is just one of the many many many fun and family-friendly things to do there!

That does sound fun. I love the doctor's office. How is your Uvula doing, by the way? Hope it's working again! I'm sure Dr. Hooper had the perfect cure!
