Tyson Hugh Hooper

Tyson Hugh Hooper
Our son, Tyson Hugh Hooper, was born with coarctation of the aorta, hypoplastic arch, and a transitional avsd. His first open heart surgery reconstructed his aorta and was on day 9 of life. His second open heart repair was not anticipated to be needed until two or three years of age. Ty had other plans. We spent the vast majority of his first 3 months of life at Vanderbilt as he went into heart failure and was diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension. As a result, the medical team concluded that he needed the repair much sooner than usually recommended, and at just shy of 3 months old Ty underwent his second life saving open heart surgery. God has already worked so many miracles in Ty's life and the life of our family and we know he is using our story. Because of this, we are grateful for Ty's special heart and feel beyond blessed that God chose us to travel this road. We ask for prayers as Ty continues to heal. We are praying for a full recovery and life without restrictions for Ty. We are praying for God to use our family and Ty for His glory.

Thank you to each and every person who supports us through prayer, giving, or just by loving on our family! We are humbled and blessed by all of the ways the Lord is providing for us and know that he is using Ty and his story to do great things!

Dear Ava Grace,

Sweet girl, you are six-and-a-half months old.

You love everything you sister does.  She's the only one that can make you laugh any time she wants.  You are happiest when she is riding in the car next to you or playing the floor with or beside you.  She makes you smile!
A lot has happened in the 2 weeks between your 6 month post and now!  You are now "officially" crawling... you can only go about  foot at a time, but you have your arms and legs working correctly and can get where you are going.  Once you get it all coordinated in the right order you'll really be cruising!  You can also sit up from the crawling position and you have said your first word... "Mama!"  You did all three of these big firsts in one day - today!

You still have the funniest expressions and keep us laughing all the time!

You reach for everything!!!  Especially the camera (above) when I am taking a picture of you!  You want to play with whatever it is that we are using instead of your toys (the remote, cell phone, and computer are your favorite items to go after)!

You fight sleep like no child I have ever seen.  If you are REALLY tired you either crash or get mad, it's a toss up!  I spoil you a little lot by rocking you to sleep sometimes often.  It is one of my favorite things to do and no one can get you to sleep like I can.

You get extremely excited about new things!  You like to bang and scratch on things - you love feeling different textures!
We can prop you up standing and holding on to something and you'll stand there for an impressive amount of time playing, banging, or just looking around.  You smile when you sneeze or cough - for some reason you think it's funny and we think that is funny.

Now that you are getting around you are starting to be into everything.  You pull your toy bin in the living room over and spread your toys all around!  Time for baby proofing!

We sure do love you little girl!  You bring so much joy to every single day!

love these sweet posts. And love her faces! She is so much fun from a distance. I bet she's a blast in person!

So very precious! And FYI for Mommy and Daddy: "real" toys are always better than kid toys. Especially the electronic variety.
