Tyson Hugh Hooper

Tyson Hugh Hooper
Our son, Tyson Hugh Hooper, was born with coarctation of the aorta, hypoplastic arch, and a transitional avsd. His first open heart surgery reconstructed his aorta and was on day 9 of life. His second open heart repair was not anticipated to be needed until two or three years of age. Ty had other plans. We spent the vast majority of his first 3 months of life at Vanderbilt as he went into heart failure and was diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension. As a result, the medical team concluded that he needed the repair much sooner than usually recommended, and at just shy of 3 months old Ty underwent his second life saving open heart surgery. God has already worked so many miracles in Ty's life and the life of our family and we know he is using our story. Because of this, we are grateful for Ty's special heart and feel beyond blessed that God chose us to travel this road. We ask for prayers as Ty continues to heal. We are praying for a full recovery and life without restrictions for Ty. We are praying for God to use our family and Ty for His glory.

Thank you to each and every person who supports us through prayer, giving, or just by loving on our family! We are humbled and blessed by all of the ways the Lord is providing for us and know that he is using Ty and his story to do great things!

Happy Mother's Day

I have wanted to write all day, but it's hard to find words to write on Mother's day.
I have thought and thought, but the words that are powerful enough to express what it means to be a mother don't exist!  I have decided to just share a few thoughts instead of writing one fluid post.
Becoming a bonus mom to Lily has changed my life!  It's through her that I learned first learned how to love like a mother.  She's the most precious girl in the world and I love her with my whole heart.  I am so thankful for the close relationship that she and I have!
I can say that being a mother changes you forever. It's a beautiful change and it comes from deep within your soul. It does not come from giving birth.
I can't tell you how important I feel it is for Mamas (and Daddys) to PLAY with their children!  We love to play in our house!  We play in every room and we play everything!  From playing "cooking show" when we are making dinner or baking to playing board games and school - we love to play and it certainly makes an impact on my relationship with the girls!

Piglet once said, "Sometimes the smallest things take up the most room in your heart."  How true!
My two girls are the biggest blessings and I am honored to be who God chose to help raise them!
Being a mom is by far the hardest and most rewarding thing I have ever done.  It's my dream job.
NOTHING feels better or brings more peace that having my baby in my arms peacefully sleeping... or cooing... or smiling at me!
I make sure to tell my girls every day how special they are.  I tell them they are beautiful, they are smart, they are funny, they are kind, they are good, they are precious, they are fun... I mean every word and I believe it is so important for them to hear this daily because they need to believe every word too!
