Tyson Hugh Hooper

Tyson Hugh Hooper
Our son, Tyson Hugh Hooper, was born with coarctation of the aorta, hypoplastic arch, and a transitional avsd. His first open heart surgery reconstructed his aorta and was on day 9 of life. His second open heart repair was not anticipated to be needed until two or three years of age. Ty had other plans. We spent the vast majority of his first 3 months of life at Vanderbilt as he went into heart failure and was diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension. As a result, the medical team concluded that he needed the repair much sooner than usually recommended, and at just shy of 3 months old Ty underwent his second life saving open heart surgery. God has already worked so many miracles in Ty's life and the life of our family and we know he is using our story. Because of this, we are grateful for Ty's special heart and feel beyond blessed that God chose us to travel this road. We ask for prayers as Ty continues to heal. We are praying for a full recovery and life without restrictions for Ty. We are praying for God to use our family and Ty for His glory.

Thank you to each and every person who supports us through prayer, giving, or just by loving on our family! We are humbled and blessed by all of the ways the Lord is providing for us and know that he is using Ty and his story to do great things!

About Ava Grace...

3 Weeks...

She loves to stay awake.  I thought all newborns slept through anything and slept all day... not our girl!  She likes to be awake and she is a light sleeper!

She loves to eat!  Four ounces every time!

She is already growing like crazy.  Her toes now fit into the little footies of her newborn sized clothes!  I have a feeling we only have a couple more weeks in newborn size clothes and diapers.

She smiles more and more and seems to attempt to smile at us, but mostly it's still involuntary and often in her sleep!  So sweet!

She still eats every three hours, but has started to occasionally stretch to four, especially at night.

She gets man size hiccups at least 3 times a day - especially at night!  I expected this, as towards the end of my pregnancy she got the hiccups at least once every single night!

When she's swaddled, she knows it's bed time.

She is sweet as pie.

She smells so good.  A friend of mine was telling me that her friend had blogged about her newborn and said that newborn smell must be what the breath of Jesus smells like!  I thought that was beautiful and poetic and must be true!

She is such a GOOD baby!

She's such a cutie pie! The breath of Jesus--hilarious! Newborns smell so so so sweet, I agree! I know you're loving every minute! Make sure you don't worry about cleaning house and cooking dinner--just snuggle with that sweet girl as much as you can while she's so little and snugglable!

I love that about the "breath of Jesus." Beautiful! And so is Ava Grace.
