Tyson Hugh Hooper

Tyson Hugh Hooper
Our son, Tyson Hugh Hooper, was born with coarctation of the aorta, hypoplastic arch, and a transitional avsd. His first open heart surgery reconstructed his aorta and was on day 9 of life. His second open heart repair was not anticipated to be needed until two or three years of age. Ty had other plans. We spent the vast majority of his first 3 months of life at Vanderbilt as he went into heart failure and was diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension. As a result, the medical team concluded that he needed the repair much sooner than usually recommended, and at just shy of 3 months old Ty underwent his second life saving open heart surgery. God has already worked so many miracles in Ty's life and the life of our family and we know he is using our story. Because of this, we are grateful for Ty's special heart and feel beyond blessed that God chose us to travel this road. We ask for prayers as Ty continues to heal. We are praying for a full recovery and life without restrictions for Ty. We are praying for God to use our family and Ty for His glory.

Thank you to each and every person who supports us through prayer, giving, or just by loving on our family! We are humbled and blessed by all of the ways the Lord is providing for us and know that he is using Ty and his story to do great things!

28 years...

I celebrated my 28th Birthday yesterday! Those of you who know me well, know that I actually celebrate my birthday the whole week! lol. I think birthdays are so special and so I always make a big deal out of everyone's birthday - including my own!

This year, I began my special week with some snow days and my special day with a precious card from Chris and Lily telling me how much they both love me! :-) There is no better way to start the day than that! I had to work and with the ball tournament it was a long day, but I did have... tons of birthday cards and well wishes from my students. Flowers. Gifts. Cards. Visitors to my classroom to hug me and wish me a wonderful day. Lunch prepared for me by my friends at work including both a chocolate cake and a made-from-scratch peach pie! Luckily both of our tournament games were early and we were done by dinner time! Chris took me out to Red Lobster! :-) We also had to run by the hospital (an unorthodox birthday stop - please pray for Chris' sister, who seems to be having complications from an earlier surgery). And, perhaps the best part of my birthday, a half day to sleep in this morning because I didn't sleep well last night... and even better... when Chris found out I was taking a half day, he took one with me to take care of me! :-) And to top of my birthday week on Friday with a cherry on top????? ... we WON the county tournament tonight! That's right, my man coached an amazing group of boys and took the title of champions tonight! How rewarding.

Overall, a WONDERFUL birthday week! Wonder what next week will hold?
